One: To The Radiant Season

This the first time that I’ve right game review, since this is my first time, I’ll review the first visual novel game that I’ve played. Introducing One: To the radiant season.

One follows the life of our protagonist, Orihara Kouhie （折原港ひえ ）. A Japanese high school student who leaves ordinary in an ordinary life. During his junior high school days, he wanted to have an eternity because he feels that his life never changes after all.

Going to school, studying for the exams, exchanging travail conversation, so on and so forth. Even hanging out to the girls. Until he finally realizes that his life here becomes meaningful as he make precious memories to his new friends he encountered.
During the long cold winter, he make new friends, discover old promises, witness ties of friendship, and learn new things.

When I first play this game, I suddenly remember “Clannad” from this game. This game has also six routes/ arcs to choose from which is very similar to the anime. And which attracted to me most is their winter uniform which is also very similar.

Then I later find out that all who work from Nexton who develop this game was later left and found KEY, the studio who develops big titles such as Kanon, Air, Clannad, and Tomoyo After.

This game has six routes/ arcs to choose from, with a number of endings depending on your choice as you proceeds. Each route will tell the life of the girl you’ve chosen to be with. Below are some information of the girls you’ve chosen, which I also include comparison to the characters of Clannad.

Nagamori Mizuka

Nagamori Mizuka （永森みずか）, Kouhie’s childhood friend. They are in the same class since childhood. She usually wakes him up early in the morning and goes with him to the school. He likes to tease her everyday when they get together.

Well about her. She was nice, a cool headed person especially to Kouhie because she already know him better. Pretty, cute, and smart. She is easy to be become one of your friends because she has nice personality.

Years and years past as Nagamori grows up with Kouhie, they both knew each others. They like brother and sister. But for those years, Nagamori get closer and closer to him, she even wake him up to his room and go with him to the school.

As you pick her route, Kouhie’s feelings get deeper and deeper for her as if he’ll never leave in this world without Mizuka with is so precious to her.

Compare to Nagisa, they have the same personalities except that Nagisa has a weak body. She even worries to her friends and pursuing others to never give up (Especially to Kouhie which she do his homework as he runs towards to the school, and eventually she is late in the class.)

Nanase Rumi

Nanase Rumi （ななせるみ）. The girl you wanted to become an otome （おとめ）, but she always failed. Kouhie’s new classmates.　In fact that they already meet before, he accidentally collides with her when he and Nagamori rushing go to the school.

She was seated in front of Kouhie which he easily makes fun at her, doing some idiotic things to her, even teasing her more to get her angry.

She is similar to Kyou of Clannad, they are both aggressive. But she is not very pursuing to others, however she’s trying her best to be friends to others even she is being hated. She’s trying hard to achieve her dream to become an otome.

But it becomes hard for her to achieve her dreams right now, but with the help of Kouhie, she achieves her dream. As you follow her arc, you’ll notice the big change in her life.

Shiina Mayu

Shiina Mayu （椎名まゆ）. The girl who lost her friend and left no one besides her. She is more immature and needs someone to guide her. No family, no friends, just her. That’s the time when Kouhie and Nagamori find her in the forest.

After Kouhie and Nagamori talked to her guardian, they decided to take care of her when they saw her that she’s interested in studying. They took care of her like there child and looks. And with Nanase, there moments gets happier.

Like Fuku Ibuki, all she wants to do is to have fun and share this to her friends. Even at school, during their break time, she wanted to play to Nanase, pulling out her pigtails. Or playing hide and seek with Kouhie.

Choosing her route, you’ll see how Kouhie guided and make her mature to be a perfect girlfriend for him. He take care of her so much like a real little sister.

Kouzuki Mio

Kouzuki Mio （構図気みお）. A freshman student who doesn’t speak but she determined to express herself in her movements. She suddenly meets him at the cafeteria when she accidentally dropped her ramen at his back which he nearly burned to half death.

She was little and also cute. Although she doesn’t speak, she’s a member of the drama club. She tries her best to act as well as to express her feelings. I feel she act like a childish girl (a loli type). But even she’s like that; I want to stay at her side to guide her.

In comparison, she is more like Ryou Fujibayashi. They both have unconfidently personality; unsure what would they gonna do. Need to be guided or supported. That’s why when Kouhie joins and support Mio in the drama club, Mio is doing her best. She pulls her strengths and confidence from Kouhie.

Kawana Misaki

Kawana Misaki （買わんみさき）. Kouhie’s sempai （先輩）who is blind but didn’t lose her smile. The girl who didn’t scared to leaves in the dark but to try to leave in a normal way. And she is the girl who is afraid to give her love to someone because of her handicap.

Kouhie accidentally meet her at the school rooftop which they didn’t expect each other that time. He easily became her friends and later they both enjoying their moments they’ve meet. Later, Kouhie find out that not only that she is a book worm; she is also a good teaser that he easily gives up teasing her.

Typically I would say that there is one thing that she is similar to Tomoyo, she never easily gives up. Even though she was blind, she doing her best to find her best of life.

Once you go to her route, you’ll be touch by her story. It is hard to imagine that to leave in the dark forever without seeing your love. I was so touch to her and if someone I meted like her, I would be at her side forever. Her arc was so good, you’ll never feel regret to fall in-love with her.

Satomura Akane

Satomura Akane （里村赤ね）. The girl who waited for her childhood friend under the rain. Kouhie’s silent and mysterious classmates. That’s why when they meet up at the empty lot; he wanted to know more about her.

She is more similar to Kotomi who is alone before. Akane didn’t want anyone to accompany her, she is a loner. But even though for me it is hard to be with him, I later find out that besides of her personality, it is easy to be with her.

With her mysterious personality, you’ll want to know her better and find out what behinds her past. Like Misaki’s route, you’ll will get touch to her, and hopelessly fall in-love with her.
